My name is Michael Hazard — I’m an emerging fashion designer and illustrator based in New York City.
Originally from Vermont, I began studying fashion design in high school at St. Johnsbury Academy before earning my Associate’s Degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. At FIT, I focused on my interest of evening wear and special occasion garments, earning a place in the selective Art Specialization Program and receiving the Critic Award for my Thesis Collection, “Deconstructing Laver”.
Since graduating, I’ve had the opportunity to travel internationally to present my collections, gaining valuable insight into global design perspectives. Most recently, I’ve worked as the in-house Fashion Illustrator for Mirror Palais, where I honed my visual communication skills and gained hands-on experience with the fast-paced nature of the industry.
My strengths lie in illustration, conceptual development, and draping, supported by a foundation in pattern making and digital design. My work is deeply inspired by the dynamics of the City and the nuances of human emotion, allowing me to create pieces that merge art and fashion.
I’m currently seeking to contribute to a design team where I can grow creatively and refine my voice as a designer. Long-term, I aspire to creative direct an established label and eventually launch my own brand— reflecting craft and concept, informed by the mentorship and experience I’ve gained along the way.
